Today marks 2 months since we adopted our puppy McCloud, nicknamed “MC” (left side of the photo). He’s now 4 months old. Our other dog Lotus is 2 years old.
I’m really pleased that both dogs get along. I wasn’t sure if they would because they have opposite personalities: Lotus is scared of everything and MC is scared of nothing. But the minute we let him out of his crate they run laps around the house together and play nonstop.
MC is definitely the stronger one. He can already yank the rope away from me during tug of war. Lotus is the faster dog and always gets to the ball first when we play fetch.
I think MC just about tripled in size in the past 8 weeks. Sometimes when I see him first thing in the morning, I could swear he has gained a pound overnight. When we went to get his vaccines, the veterinarian said he will probably be 70 or 80 pounds when fully grown. Sung is happy about that because he wished for a big dog.
I kind of miss when he was a cute tiny puppy, but not really. I’m just so freaking happy he is finally housebroken. And I’m looking forward to when he stops teething and grows out of his bitey phase.
My favorite things about him are his spotted paws, and his ears. A lot of times he will have one ear up and one ear down. He just started doing it this past week!

Even more adorable is how attached he’s gotten to Sung. That’s definitely his favorite human, He follows him around EVERYWHERE. When Sung’s at the sink doing dishes, MC curls up on his feet. When he’s out fixing his truck, MC is right beside him at all times. They will even sit and watch YouTube together.
I’m happy because the reason I wanted a second dog was for Lotus to have a sibling and also for Sung to have a buddy. Because Lotus is bonded to me like superglue, she never leaves my side . She’s so clingy and I love it. Whenever I lay down she tries to be next to me at all times. Does anyone else dog look this awkward?! 😆

aw and yes, awkward to say the least!)

Both dogs are cute. The housebreaking thing can be frustrating. We have a new puppy (8 weeks old), that we’re trying to housebreak. I guess this will take some patience, but it’s nice to know that after 2 months, you’ve managed to housebreak yours.
The teething and bitey phase is another issue. I hope this hasn’t gotten expensive for you. We worry about our electrical cords. We’re giving our puppy lots of chew toys.

8 weeks was McCloud’s age when we got him. I’d started to think we were doomed to buy pee pads forever. Then just last week, it was like a switch flipped and he began sitting by the door and preferring the great outdoors. Best of luck to you and your pup! it does take mountains of patience.
The hard rubber “bones” seem to keep him occupied in the house. The thing I worry about, is when we go outside he puts all sorts of things in his mouth. 😅

Haha! Yes, Jernee is extremely clingy, and she’s my only dog. She follows me everywhere, and when I’m napping I’m the living room, she has to be near me and will contort her body into crazy positions to fit in somewhere. Lol. Dogs are amazing beings. I’m glad MC is adjusting well.

Until we adopted Lotus I never knew that dogs could be so attached to us humans. It’s truly a wonderful feeling. I’m glad you have Jernee. Sounds like she has her PHD in the art of cuddling and companionship! 🙂🧡

Thank you!! I feel we got super lucky with how well the dogs get along. And yea, it’s remarkable how fast a pup can grow. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since he loves to eat 😁

That is a very happy post! I’m tickled that Sung has his very own “side kick” in MC. I’m sure Lotus is just as happy that MC is preoccupied so that she doesn’t have to “share” your attention. Probably they are very content to be best friends when their people are not around!!

I don’t know, how, but after reading your post, my mouth muscles started to twitch, and a large “AWWWWWWWWWWW” came out. Haha! He is such a darling! I am so glad you didn’t ‘buy’ a dog. Adopting is so much better :-D

“I could swear he has gained a pound overnight. ” Hahaha, that’s so funny. I swear that when i weigh myself in the morning, I often feel that way too. A good dinner will add one or two pounds. Sigh. Now the lunar new year is coming and losing weight seems to be impossible. What a lovely family you have. All the love you have for each other.

Haha!! I always say, it’s not a good dinner if I don’t feel it the next day 😁
I think MC could be a competitive eater. Lotus eats very slowly and nibbles throughout the day, so we have to keep her food bowl away from MC otherwise he would try to sneak her food once he’s finished with his own..

Wow, I can hear them barking and see them eating from here. Wish to read more of your feline stories.

Aww, what cute doggos. And I totally get the bond thing, because I appeared in my partner’s doggo’s life quite a bit later, PLUS she’s a cocker spaniel, so she’s really needy and never leaves my partner’s side. Even when I have food. I feel rejected all the time, lol. Thanks for sharing these beautiful slices of your life!

Thank you Stuart! I never realized how deeply dogs can bond to one human. I have heard cocker spaniels especially have this tendency. It’s hard not to take it personally😅
